This is way more of a "tourist trap" than I was expecting. It's the kind of place that's in the middle of nowhere, but huge tour buses show up every day with tourist from all over the world. They even put on a shoot-out skit. I heard the shouting and the gun fire, but was not in the right place for watching it. The ghost town was, regardless of the touristy nature, pretty interesting. There is some historical information. It was a successful silver mining town in the late 1800's. Even some of the many trinket shops were interesting to browse through. And I enjoyed the sound track that was playing in the restaurant where I had lunch. Many of the songs were songs that my dad used to play on his guitar, and sing. Like "Red River Valley", "Oh Susana", and "On Top of Old Smoky". |
